Church History Library to Sponsor RootsTech 2026

The Church History Library is excited to announce its sponsorship of RootsTech 2026, the world’s largest global family history gathering. This year’s event will take place March 5–7, 2026, both in person at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City and online through RootsTech.org.

As a 2026 RootsTech sponsor, the Church History Library will host an engaging booth in the expo hall. Visitors can do the following:

• Learn how to find their family in Church history, including guidance on identifying ancestors in Church records and understanding the breadth of material available in the Church History Catalog
• Discover helpful online resources, like the library’s family history research guide and the Biographical Database to quicken your search for ancestors
• Spin the “Wagon Wheel” for fun prizes, a family‑friendly activity designed to bring a little pioneer‑style fun to the RootsTech experience

Featured Presentations from the Church History Library

This year, library staff will offer two educational presentations:

1. Exploring the Church History Biographical Database and Its Unique Datasets

This session will highlight how to navigate the Church History Biographical Database, understand its structure, and leverage its one‑of‑a‑kind datasets—including manuscripts, photographs, oral histories, and more—to advance genealogical research.

2. Finding Your Family in Church History

This presentation will introduce attendees to the online tools (including the catalog and biographical database), digitized collections, and on-site resources available at the Church History Library. Patrons will learn practical methods for locating Latter-day Saint ancestors in historical documents, journals, membership records, and institutional collections.
